Abstract

A professional learning community is one of the learning centres recommended by the department of education to provide teachers with skills, teaching strategies and solutions to the challenges they face on a daily basis in schools, especially within the classroom. This research study examines teacher learning of grade 12 Life Sciences teachers in a professional learning community located in the Harry Gwala district. The focus of this study was to examine the professional learning activities grade 12 Life Sciences teachers engaging in a professional learning community. In addition, this study aimed to examine the extent to which the professional learning community serves as an effective professional learning community.
