| dc.description.abstract | Work life balance can be defined as maintaining equilibrium between work and non-work responsibilities. People have limited time to perform various activities that are work related as well as non-work related and therefore it is imperative to ensure that individuals have the ability to satisfy responsibilities from both domains. An individual’s inability to satisfy responsibilities from both domains adversely affects the performance at work as well as in their personal lives. Work life balance is a widely used concept, however, the influence it has on employee performance is not so easily seen. The importance and necessity of maintaining work life balance was previously seen as the responsibility of the individual however today, organisations are beginning to recognise the implications that work life balance has on the performance of the individual as well as the organisation. This study aims to close the gap that exists between work life balance and employee performance such that it contributes to the knowledge of enhancing performance. This study will investigate the influence of work life balance on the performance of nurses working in private hospital in Durban. The sample of participants for this study will be randomly selected and thereafter subjected to a self-administered questionnaire in order to solicit the desired results from the sample in an attempt to understand the influence of work life balance on the performance of nurses. | en_US |
