The impact of artificial intelligence on business operations.

Abstract

The swift advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has had a substantial impact on several industries, including business operations in South Africa. This thesis, entitled "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Business Operations", investigates the adoption of AI, the challenges as well as possibilities it brings and how governments can help in promoting the incorporation of AI through policies. The study offers a thorough assessment of the influence of AI on business operations, emphasising its capacity to significantly improve productivity, decision-making and innovation. The study utilises a qualitative research technique to analyse the implementation and integration of AI in South African organisations. It draws upon current literature, industry reports and case studies for analysis. The results suggest that AI has significant advantages, such as enhanced efficiency in operations, consumer satisfaction and tactical decision-making. However, it also presents difficulties, such as problems with data management, shortages of skilled personnel and ethical considerations. Furthermore, the thesis explores the responses of company executives in South Africa toward the implementation of AI, analysing their approaches and adjustments. Additionally, it explores the prospects of management in a context where AI is prevalent, highlighting the importance of aligning strategies and gaining a thorough comprehension of AI's function in corporate activities. The research findings indicate that AI has the capacity to fundamentally transform business operations in South Africa, as long as organisations are able to skilfully mitigate the associated risks and successfully exploit AI technology to their benefit. This report provides useful perspectives into the practical application of AI in business, offering recommendations for businesses to navigate the ever-changing technological environment.
